CARNEGIE ART AWARD 2010
It is a pleasure to announce that the Carnagie Art Award 2010, one of the world's biggest art prizes is awarded to KRISTJAN GUDMUNDSSON (born 1941).
An unanimous jury has awarded him a first prize of SEK 1,000,000 (equal to € 94.000,-) "for his exceptional sound-absorbing paintings in which he
characteristically combines materials and concept into an artwork filled with content." HM Queen Margrethe will award Gudmundsson with the prize
of SEK 1 million in a ceremony at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen on 17 September 2009.

SIGURDUR GUDMUNDSSON a first generation of Icelandic artists to a wider audience by participating in artfairs like the Stockholm Artfair, the Smart Show and the Basel Artfair.
